Hair loss among women is more common than many people realize. Nearly one out of every three women will experience some type of hair loss during their lives, and among women over the age of 50, that number goes up to nearly two out of every three women. The fact is, however, the sooner you seek care, the better the chances are that you can treat the issue.
Since hair loss effects so many people, we searched high and low for the best shampoos for women experiencing it. So without further adieu, here are 5 shampoos and conditioners we recommend:
Routine Shampoo and Conditioner blew us away in terms of effectiveness and is easily the shampoo and conditioner we recommend the most for women with thinning hair.
Routine is made from a proprietary blend of plant-based extracts and oils such as pea peptides, biotin, apple fruit extract, and nettle leaf extract. These ingredients promote hair thickness by stimulating follicles, strengthening the hair shaft, and encouraging circulation to the scalp.
In addition, the shampoo and conditioner also contain ingredients like saw palmetto oil and argan oil that fight DHT – the hormone that is known to cause hair loss in both men and women. This combination of strengthening hair with one hand and fighting thinning with the other is why the shampoo and conditioner work so well!
Routine Shampoo & Conditioner has over a hundred great reviews, including one person who calls it a “miracle in a bottle.” It’s safe for all types of hair – even color treated hair. The company also has an amazing return policy – if you’re unhappy with the shampoo or conditioner, they will pay the cost of return shipping and give you a full refund. Fortunately, it didn’t come to that because I loved both!
After we started using Routine, our hair felt thicker and healthier than it has in years! Simply put, this was our favorite shampoo and conditioner!
Oribe Signature Shampoo and Conditioner are made from botanical ingredients that filter out UV rays. It also has antioxidants that can lift away dirt from hair without overly drying your scalp or weighing down your hair.
We loved using the product but didn’t love the price or the fact that it contained SLS, so it ended up as #2 on our list.
We loved that Pureology Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner is SLS free, and is vegan. We thought the shampoo did a great job cleansing our scalp without stripping it, and the conditioner did a great job of hydrating our hair without weighing it down. Overall, we felt like we had more volume and bounce, so we put this as number three on our list.
Keranique Shampoo and Conditioner is aimed specifically at replenishing Kertain in the hair. Keratin is a critical component of hair protein, and so we loved that focus. The shampoo did a great job at moisturizing our hair too. However, we didn’t love that the whole kit idea, and it seemed like the shampoo stripped away the color in our hair quickly, and so it earned the number 4 spot on our list.
Wow Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo and Conditioner are enriched with keratin proteins, just like Keranique Shampoo. In addition, WOW contains one unique ingredient – apple cider vinegar – that helps balance the pH of the shampoo and conditioner on your scalp. Both the shampoo and conditioner are hypoallergenic, which means that your scalp won’t get dry or flake as a result of using these products.
We love Wow, but some people have written to us saying their hair feels a bit rough using it.
