I stopped using Liquid Laundry Detergent for 30 days…this is what happened (SPOILER: I’m never going back)

I’m sure we’ve all heard the “scary truth” about liquid laundry detergent by now. How it’s packed full of harsh chemicals that can cause cancer (1,4-dioxane), disrupt hormones (optical brighteners), even speed up aging (phthalates).

Not to mention liquid detergents are usually up to 90% water, so big detergent brands are  scamming Americans and trying to hide it with brightly colored plastic jugs that will just end up in landfills.

But, that being said, making the switch from your “tried-and-true” liquid detergent is easier said than done. I mean, do those “eco-friendly” alternatives ACTUALLY get the job done?

My recent visit to the dermatologist is the thing that really convinced me to put one to the test. I had noticed weird skin rashes all over my arms–turns out, that was due to the harsh chemicals in my liquid detergent.

My dermatologist recommended her personal favorite laundry detergent: Clean People Laundry Sheets

So, I ordered a pack of Clean People that night — half expecting them to be another “greenwashed” product that wouldn’t actually clean my clothes. I did, however, get a FREE 32-Pack of sheets when I bought a 96-pack, so that was a win!

When they arrived, the first thing I noticed was how lightweight the plastic-free box was. No heavy jugs. No sticky caps. Just a simple box of thin, ultra-concentrated, pre-measured sheets that dissolve in warm or cold water. (Honestly, it felt weird at first — how is this tiny sheet supposed to replace a cup of thick liquid detergent?)

Week 1:
Right away, I noticed my skin rash disappeared, and my laundry didn’t have that overpowering fake fragrance anymore.

The Clean People sheets seemed to be doing their job well enough–even getting out some tough BBQ-Sauce stains from my husband’s favorite shirt.

The most noticeable difference: The top of my laundry machine has never been more clean. No more messy liquid detergent spills everywhere! That was definitely a plus.

Week 2:
At this point, I had fully gotten used to the sheets — and honestly, I started noticing some other unexpected changes too.

Not only were my towels coming out fluffy and fresh (without that heavy, waxy coating I didn’t realize was “normal” before), but I was feeling better overall.

I had a little more energy during the day — no random afternoon crashes — and even my hair felt a little fuller and shinier.

Turns out when you cut out hormone disruptors like optical brighteners and phthalates, your body can actually start working the way it’s supposed to. Clean People detergent is made without any harsh chemicals, and I could really feel the difference

Week 3:
This was the point when I realized how much money I had been wasting on all that liquid detergent. Was I really spending all that money on watered-down detergent that had ingredients that could give me cancer?

With Clean People, I got 96 sheets for $33, plus 32 sheets for FREE. That boils down to less than $0.13 per light load of laundry!

So not only is Clean People detergent safer for my family, it’s safer for my wallet too.

Week 4:
By the end of the month, I couldn’t imagine ever going back to liquid laundry detergent. I felt great, my clothes were clean and stain-free, and I loved knowing I was making the right choice for my family.

I even started telling my family and friends about it, and they’ve all made the switch too!

Final Verdict:
I’ll admit it — in the beginning, I was skeptical. But after 30 days of using Clean People Laundry Sheets, there’s no way I’m going back.

I even signed up for their Subscribe & Save program, so now I get 15% off every time I re-stock. Talk about a bang for your buck!

These laundry sheets are  safer, smarter, and actually clean my clothes. Plus, they make doing laundry feel a little less like a chore — and let’s be honest, we could all use a win there.

If you’ve been thinking about ditching your old liquid detergent, consider this your sign: Make the switch to Clean People Laundry Sheets now
